“Black On The Dancefloor” is a series of talks and an open invitation to understand the clubbing experience of BIPOC artists, dancers and organisers, through their own words. For many of us, dancefloors function as a space that allows us to truly be joyful ourselves, unrestricted by societal norms. However, they are also a mirror of society, and for many they can be grounds for negative interactions that linger beyond the club space.
Through a curated gathering of speakers, we seek to share the happiness and sadness we’ve found on the dance floor, the lingering problems that persist, and the ways that we can address, and hopefully, solve them.
“Black On The Dancefloor” is a space for an open dialogue and exchange to occur, and as such we welcome all individuals from all backgrounds to attend and participate, because dancefloors (along with ourselves and the world) can only become true safe spaces if we all listen, engage and learnt
from the experiences of others.
